The Loo Pun Temple is situated at Love Lane of George Town. Established in the early nineteenth century by a group of Guangdong artisans who migrated South, the temple has a distinctive Cantonese style. It is fronted by a deep front yard and guarded by two stone lion statues. Due to site constraints, the temple is deep and narrow. It has three sections across its depth: the first section is single-storeyed while the next two sections are double-storeyed. Its front facade is divided into three bays by two granite columns. At the side bays, special crescent beams connect the granite columns to the side walls of the temple for rigidity. On top of the crescent beams, carved timber lion statues support the eave beams above. At the entrance, one could feast eyes on the five wall paintings made during the Qing dynasty. The steep roofs of Loo Pun Temple are bordered by tall gable walls at two ends. The three central roof ridges are decorated with painted stucco sculptures at their faces, each with a different theme, mainly of benevolent beasts and landscapes. On top of the first section roof ridge, a pair of Shiwan pottery ao yu sculptures could be seen.

In 2001, Loo Pun Temple contracted Wensi Heritage for a restoration involving its front section and two corridors. The scope of works included roof tiling, recovery of roof ridge decoration, wall plastering, painting and flooring works.
