Penang Koo Siang Wooi Koon was built in the late-nineteenth century as the communal ancestral temple shared between four clans in Penang, namely the clans of Liu, Guan, Zhang and Zhao. It is located in King Street, George Town. Koo Siang Wooi Koon is a Cantonese-style architecture with a single bay and two sections across its length. Its five-footway is extended vertically into a double-volume space which contributes to its slender proportion. The first section is double-storeyed, where its upper floor are used as altar space for the ancestors, while the rear section enshrines the generals Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun. Wensi Heritage was invited to participate in the restoration of Koo Siang Wooi Koon in 2016. The restoration effort comprised refurbishment of the front facade, roof works at the front hall, repainting and decorative painting works.
