Heap Thean Keong Lee Ong Hoo Temple
Heap Thean Kiong Lee Ong Hoo Temple is located in Kawasan Rumah Hijau, Taiping. It is a single-bay temple fronted by a prayer pavilion, flanked by annexes at both its sides. The temple was built on a vast compound where several other structures could be observed, such as a pentagonal pavilion and a joss furnace. In 1992, Wensi Heritage was commissioned to construct a pair of traditional Chinese archways at the entrances of the site. Both archways are similar three-bayed structures with four columns. Each of the three bays has a single gable roof and all are layered in the way that the central bay roof is raised among the other two. The central ridges are curved upwards and their ends are pointed in an outwardly fashion like ‘swallow tail’. The roof ridges are adorned with dragons and stucco work, which completes a typical composition of Hokkien style architecture.
